ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The General Director of Agriculture in Erbil, Hemin Sayed Murad, stated to Kurdistan 24 on Monday “the volume of the local onion growing was 70 thousand tons, from that an amount of 45 thousand tons was exported abroad (outside Kurdistan Region) and more than 25 thousand tons consumed within the region”

Murad greatly highlighted the state depended on the domestic production, so far. He stated “any where we felt there was a smuggling agricultural production, or there is an import, we would take legal actions against the non-compliant retailers”

It is understood from the interviewing that onion growing is an adequate supply product to the local demand, and regarding the price, it’s been set formally on 500 to 600 dinars per a kilogram in Erbil Alwa (the central vegetable and fruits warehouse), however till it reaches out consumers, the price would go under 1000 dinars.
