Finance Committee, Diwan (Office) Chairman at Council of Ministers hold press conference

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – On Thursday, the Diwan (Office) Chairman at the Council of Ministers of Kurdistan Regional Government, Dr. Omed Sabah, stated in a press conference “in the last couple of days, with the Finance Committee at the Iraqi Parliament, we discussed several important issues.

Sabah reaffirmed that the Kurdistan Region Government is committed and has good intentions to resolve the outstanding issues with the Iraqi Federal Government, and called on the Finance Committee at the Iraqi Parliament to play an active role and guarantee any agreement we reach with the Federal government.

“They discussed the issue of oil and gas with the Finance Committee at the Iraqi Parliament, the financial issue and employees’ salaries, especially August and September” Dr. Sabah announced “we discussed the issue of employees-salaries-through banks, now a large number employees received salaries through designated banks, 50 percent of employees are registered, 25 percent of the payments went through to the bank accounts”

The Diwan (Office) Chairman at the Council of Ministers revealed that discussions made with the Finance Committee of the Iraqi Parliament about the border gates, and highlighted that the Kurdistan Regional Government has not yet received the operating budget.

“On the issue of revenues, we are trying to bring the agencies closer together and create a proper analysis for non-oil revenues, Kurdistan region sent out the non-oil revenues of the past few months to Baghdad” He added

"We are committed to all the articles in the budget. We expect the Finance Committee help us achieve our constitutional rights from the budget,” He concluded

Two days ago, a delegation by the Iraqi Parliament's Finance Committee arrived in Erbil, to discuss the financial issues between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government.

It is understood that the parties have made common understanding, to end any financial troubles between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq for next year.
