IHEC asked consulates, local, international organizations, observers to monitor parliamentary general election in Kurdistan Region

According to Judge Omar Ahmad’s statement, the Iraqi Election Commission completed more than %95 of the work related to the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and is ready to conduct the elections in a transparent and fair manner.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Judge Omar Ahmad, the ea HeadHead of the Iraqi Independent High Election Commission (IHEC), held a press conference, on Thursday, about the latest preparations by the commission for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, election campaign, monitoring the process and several other updates.

The voting for the sixth round of the Kurdistan regional Parliamentary general election which will be held on October 20th, 2024, the specific voting for the Peshmerga and other security forces will be on October 18th, with 136 lists, 1191 candidates from different political parties and independent to compete to achieve 100 seats in parliament.

According to Judge Omar Ahmad’s statement, the Iraqi Election Commission completed more than %95 of the work related to the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and is ready to conduct the elections in a transparent and fair manner.

“All the equipment for the election has been prepared, ballot papers have been distributed to the commission offices in the provinces and independent administrations in Kurdistan Region,” Ahmad said.

“A large number of voting cards were handed over, and asked those voters who have not received their cards to visit the registration centers of the commission and collect their cards to participate in the parliamentary elections because without it, voters cannot cast their vote”

Ahmad revealed the commission asked the consulates, local and international organizations, observers, to monitor the electoral process of the sixth round of the regional parliamentary general election.

He further announced that nine consulates, eight international organizations and a number of local organizations and monitors expressed their willingness to do so, so far.

41000 staff will work in the regional parliamentary general elections, all electronic devices successfully tested, and ready to operate “the first team of them completed their training and the second batch will soon complete it and conduct the general election in a professional and responsible manner," he added.

Through his statement, Ahmad, fully reaffirmed that during the voting there will be zero cheating, no messing with the voting and lists will occur.
