Special voting for Kurdistan Region elections to begin Oct. 18 with over 215,000 voters participating

This marks a significant milestone as, for the first time, eligible voters outside the Kurdistan Region will have the opportunity to participate, in addition to those residing in the region's four governorates.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The special voting process for the Kurdistan Region’s parliamentary elections, which includes voters from members of Kurdistan Region's security force, police, civil defense as well as Peshmerga Ministry,  is set to commence on Friday, Oct. 18, with the participation of more than 215,000 eligible voters.

According to information gathered by Kurdistan24, the special voting will take place across 165 polling centers, encompassing 749 polling stations.

This marks a significant milestone as, for the first time, eligible voters outside the Kurdistan Region will have the opportunity to participate, in addition to those residing in the region's four governorates.

Voters participating in the special voting can also cast their ballots in eight other Iraqi governorates.

Distribution of Polling Stations

The distribution of polling stations across the regions is as follows:

Erbil: Hosts the largest number of special voters, with 62 polling centers and 306 polling stations.

Sulaimani: 57 polling centers and 276 polling stations.

Dohuk: 33 polling centers and 142 polling stations.

Halabja: 1 polling center with 3 polling stations.

Baghdad - al-Rusafa: 1 polling center with 3 polling stations.

Nineveh: 4 polling centers with 5 polling stations.

Kirkuk: 1 polling center with 2 polling stations.

Diyala: 1 polling center with 1 polling station.

Anbar: 1 polling center with 1 polling station.

Baghdad - al-Karkh: 2 polling centers with 8 polling stations.

The voting process is scheduled to start at 7:00 a.m. and will continue until 6:00 p.m., allowing ample time for eligible voters to cast their ballots.
