ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has recorded 43 violations ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, according to Emad Jamil, head of the commission's media team. Speaking to Kurdistan24 on Tuesday, Jamil stated that those responsible for the violations have been fined, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to maintaining a transparent election process.

Jamil also confirmed that the commission’s procedures are being carried out successfully as planned, ensuring smooth operations on election day.

"More than 30,000 domestic observers and 3,000 international representatives will oversee the voting process," Jamil said, highlighting the significant presence of monitors to ensure electoral integrity. The commission has also installed surveillance cameras in polling stations, with each station equipped with four cameras to closely monitor activities.

However, Jamil noted that approximately 120,000 biometric voter cards remain uncollected by citizens. These cards are essential for voter identification and are a key part of the electoral process.

As the Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections approach, the IHEC continues to focus on upholding security and transparency, working to address any challenges that arise.
