Duhok Governor reports smooth progress in special voting

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Ali Tatar, the Governor of Duhok, has reported that the special voting process for security and military forces in Duhok province is proceeding smoothly and without incidents.
The statement came during a press conference held on Friday, as part of the ongoing sixth Kurdistan parliamentary elections.
"The special voting process in Duhok province is progressing normally and without any issues," Tatar announced. "We hope that no technical problems will arise until the completion of the process."
The governor also expressed satisfaction with the turnout, encouraging those who haven't yet voted to exercise their right freely.
The special voting for security forces began at 7:00 AM on Friday and will continue until 6:00 PM. This process is a prelude to the general election scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 20.
Tatar added, "We hope that those who haven't voted yet will be able to cast their ballots freely and without any obstacles. Furthermore, we anticipate no issues for the general voting process on the 20th of this month."
According to the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) of Iraq, which is overseeing the election, the total number of eligible voters for the Kurdistan Parliament's sixth term election is 2,889,878. Of these, 215,960 are classified as special voters participating in today's poll.
The smooth progress reported in Duhok is an encouraging sign for the overall electoral process in the Kurdistan Region.
As one of the four governorates in the region, Duhok's successful conduct of the special voting may set a positive tone for the upcoming general election.
