IHEC announces 98 percent of votes cast in Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) on Sunday announced that 98 percent of votes cast in the Kurdistan Region's parliamentary elections have been tallied, with voter turnout percentages standing at 74 percent in Erbil, 78 percent in Duhok, 65 percent in Sulaimani, and 69 percent in Halabja.

Nabard Omar, the head of Kurdistan elections at IHEC, expressed gratitude to the Kurdistan Regional Government, security agencies, and the media for ensuring a smooth electoral process for the sixth session of the Kurdistan Region Parliament.

Speaking about the results, Omar said, "The preliminary results of the general election will be announced tomorrow." He also noted that no complaints have been reported so far. However, if any issues arise at polling stations, they will be addressed accordingly.

Omar further explained that all election results have been transmitted electronically to Baghdad. Any ballot boxes marked with a red dot, indicating a potential issue, will be opened and reviewed transparently.

This election marks another critical moment in the Kurdistan Region’s democratic process, with anticipation building for the final results.
