Preliminary Results: KDP Leads Kurdistan Parliament Elections with 40 Seats, Over 790,000 Votes

According to unofficial preliminary results, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has secured 40 seats.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - According to unofficial preliminary results, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has secured 40 seats in Sunday's parliamentary elections, garnering over 790,000 votes from more than 2.5 million eligible voters who participated in the October 20, 2024 general election.

The unofficial seat distribution according to the preliminary count:

1. Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP): 40 seats

2. Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK): 22 seats

3. New Generation Movement: 15 seats

4. Kurdistan Islamic Union: 7 seats

5. Helwest Movement: 4 seats

6. Kurdistan Justice Group: 3 seats

7. People's Front: 2 seats

8. Gorran Movement: 1 seat

9. Kurdistan Region Alliance: 1 seat

Individual candidates who secured seats:

- Rami Nuri Odish Siawish: 1 seat

- Dr. James Hasdo Hedo: 1 seat

- Najdat Nuri Mohammed: 1 seat

- Dana Amanj Najib Shamun: 1 seat

- Muna Nabi Kahveci: 1 seat

The results show a significant distribution of power across various political parties and independent candidates in the Kurdistan Parliament's sixth term, with the KDP maintaining its position as the largest parliamentary bloc.
