Worldwide airlines after Israel’s airstrikes against Iran
The international and regional airlines are monitoring security and airspace after Israel’s military launched an attack against Iran in the early hours of Saturday morning.
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Amid rising the tensions in the Middle East, air-bus, airline companies are cancelling and halting their flights to the Mid East temporarily.
However, Erbil International Airport, airports in Iraq and Iran closed their airspace while Israeli airstrikes attacked Iran, but they reopened several hours later.
The international and regional airlines are monitoring security and airspace after Israel’s military launched an attack against Iran in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Flights have been disrupted, cancelled and probably very few rearranged, after the explosions were heard across Tehran, and when international media outlets started to announce and broadcast the news.
International well-known airline companies continue their suspension decisions on their flights to certain countries in the Mid-East (to Iran, Iraq, Israel and Lebanon), until next year 2025.
However, some of them stated to their passengers about further notice, for example Emirati airline, Flydubai cancelled flights to Iran, Iraq, Israel and Jordan, and has diverted others on Saturday, likewise Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways diverted its flights.
Iran's Civil Aviation Authority has announced the resumption of flights, “flights have returned to normal at 9 am on Saturday,” An official spokesman in the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization stated.
“Passengers should stay in touch with the airlines and pay special attention to the messages sent to them by the airlines about information from the airlines about flight times or flight delays," He added.
According to Qatar Airways, it has temporarily suspended flights to and from both Iran and Lebanon until further notice. Flights to Jordan and Iraq will only operate during daylight hours.
British Airways, American and Delta Airlines announced suspensions, on October 2nd, 2024, of their Israel flights until the end of March 2025.
United Airlines canceled flights to Israel until further notice, El Al, an Israeli airline, is the only airline operating direct flights between the United States and Israel.
The Dutch airline, Netherlands’ KLM suspended flights until the end of 2024 without any further updates, so far.
Germany’s Lufthansa Group — which includes Swiss, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings — cancelled flights until the end of October, along with Air France, due to heightened tensions in the Middle East.
Egypt's national airline EgyptAir cancelled flights to Amman, Baghdad and Erbil. The Cairo-based carrier said "the move was due to the regional developments, following the Israeli airstrikes on Iran and would last until the situation stabilizes"
