ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Governor Omed Khoshnaw stated on Saturday that there are no plans to declare an official holiday in Erbil due to rain and potential flooding, addressing public inquiries as weather forecasts indicate heavy rainfall across the Kurdistan Region.

The Kurdistan Region’s General Directorate of Meteorology and Seismology released its weather forecast, predicting 48 hours of cloudy skies with rain expected to vary in intensity throughout different areas. "The weather will be cloudy with moderate rain at times, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas," the statement read.

The forecast anticipates particularly heavy rain during the morning hours in Erbil, Kirkuk, Sulaimani, Halabja, and the Raparin Independent Administration, with precipitation expected to persist into the afternoon and night.

Authorities urge citizens to take necessary precautions in flood-prone areas and stay informed on weather updates as the rainfall continues.
