Head of EU Liaison Office in Erbil EEAS paid visit to Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani

Butum congratulated the Kurdistan Region on the successful parliamentary general election, and referred that according to their assessment, the electoral process was successful and organized, he thanked all relevant parties who succeeded the process.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Radu Butum, the Head of the EU Liaison Office in Erbil, on Thursday.

The parties discussed the Kurdistan Regional Parliamentary general election, also the next steps to establish the new government.

As well as the Iraqi and Kurdistan Region's relations with the European Union, and the outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad were another part of the meeting between both sides.

Butum congratulated the Kurdistan Region on the successful parliamentary general election, and referred that according to their assessment, the electoral process was successful and organized, he thanked all relevant parties who succeeded the process. 

The two sides stressed the need to expand cooperation between the European Union countries, Iraq and Kurdistan Region, especially in areas that are important to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and that can enhance the agencies and departments.

During the meeting, the risks and raising tensions in the Middle East were discussed, in addition to a number of other issues deal with the common interest.
