ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Three members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF – In Kurdish Hêzên Sûriya Demokratîk) were killed in a car bombing in Hasaka city, northeastern Syria (Rojava), on Monday night, Nov. 11, 2024.

According to a statement from the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) Communications Center, the attack was carried out using an improvised explosive device planted in a vehicle.

"Our forces continue their counter-terrorism operations and the clearing of rural areas around Hasaka, particularly in the Hol area and its camp, targeting terrorist cells and their supporters," the statement added.

The incident occurs amid an ongoing security operation launched by the SDF and Internal Security Forces on Nov. 6 in and around al-Hol camp.

Military commanders report that the operation has resulted in the arrest of 84 ISIS members and their associates, with sweeping operations within the camp continuing.

Al-Hol camp, located in Syria's Hasaka governorate, has been a significant security concern for Kurdish-led authorities. The camp houses thousands of displaced people, including families of suspected ISIS members, making it a potential breeding ground for extremist activities.

The recent security operations reflect ongoing efforts to maintain stability in the region and prevent ISIS from regrouping. The car bombing highlights the persistent security challenges faced by Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria, despite their successful campaign against ISIS's territorial control.
