Health care to Peshmerga Forces through specified hospital

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Ministry of Peshmerga has been supported by the coalition forces in different aspects, one of the significant assistances was establishing Peshmerga Hospital in Erbil.

The newly appointed manager, who is the Zakho Military College graduate, Colonel Ayub Ahmed Aziz explained to Kurdistan 24 Website “this highly valued setting, owned by the Kurdistan Region Government state, provides the medical care and health treatment to the Peshmerga forces, their families as well as to martyrs’ families”

“It offers health care for free, and it is for 24/7, established in 2019 under the supervision of Kurdistan Region Government with German Coalition Forces’ assistance” Col. Aziz further added.

According to his statement, the facility is formed of different department, such as Emergency, Diagnosis and Pathology laboratory, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Surgeries.

Furthermore, it has a variety of consultancy sections for example Osseous tissues-Bone Consultant, Fracture specialists, Neurologists, Opticians, Renal and Urinary System Experts, Ears Nose and Throat (ENT), Pediatricians, Gynaecologists, and Dentists. There are also a Pharmacy, Radiology and X-ray departments also wards for females and males.

There is only 210 staff members, employees and workers run that immense hospital.

It is understood that the hospital has opened new facilities ever since, certainly, new services are needed and probably with more assistance, new services will be provided.

In many occasions, President Barzani stressed the U.S. and other Coalition forces existence is vital to assist the Kurdistan Region and Iraq's stability and consolidate coordination with Peshmerga.

The Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs (MoPA) conducts continuous operations, activities as well as regularly runs necessary course-work for its troops.

The most recent MoPA’s operation taken by 18th Infantry Brigade who performed an extensive search in the areas, especially, where Qarachugh mountain is locating, those areas are suspected to be terrorists’ hideouts. 

In another post through X platform, on Thursday, November 14th, 2024, the Ministry of Peshmerga put, as a part of the coordination and cooperation between U.S. and Peshmerga Forces in regard to security also mine advice and trainings.

The MoPA’s Deputy Chief of Staff for the Administration affairs welcomed a U.S. delegation from the Security Cooperation Office for Northern Affairs & the Mine Advisory Group in Kurdistan Region with a collaboration by the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil.

The coordination between them about the dangers of the remaining minefields in Kurdistan Region was discussed.
