ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Iraqi President Latif Rashid arrived at the American University of Kurdistan-Duhok on Friday, where he was welcomed by Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani for the fifth Middle East Peace and Security Conference (MEPS 2024).

The two-day conference, held under Kurdistan24's media sponsorship, brings together prominent regional and international figures to discuss pressing Middle Eastern issues from Nov. 22-23, 2024.

The prestigious gathering has drawn 124 academics and experts from 40 different countries, with 73% of participants attending for the first time. The conference agenda includes multiple panels and workshops addressing current global and Middle Eastern affairs.

President Rashid's attendance at MEPS 2024, and the warm welcome extended by PM Barzani, symbolizes the ongoing cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil. The conference serves as an important platform for high-level dialogue between federal and regional leadership, particularly significant given the current regional challenges.

The choice of Duhok as the venue continues to highlight the Kurdistan Region's role as a stable hub for international diplomatic gatherings in Iraq.
