NGOs in COP29 demands developed countries to increase funding support to climate changes

There are more than 300 NGOs in the conference called on developing countries as well as China to increase their financial support and commitments, otherwise they will leave the conference.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – It was decided on Saturday that the negotiations at the Conference on Climate Change (COP-29) in Baku to extended.

Countries such as the United States and the European Union proposed increasing their climate change finding-commitments to poor countries from $100 billion annually to $250 billion by 2035.

According to the official sources, African countries called the amount inappropriate in comparison to the disasters experienced by the planet continents, they demand "developed countries need to reduce their investment in carbon energy”

Regarding underdeveloped or developing countries their annual estimated needs is between $500 to $1.3 trillion to get rid of fossil fuels and adapt to a global warming change.

According to UN-designated economists’ statistics, the amount is expected to rise to $300 billion in the next five years.

The draft summit presented on Friday, November 22nd, 2024, which officially called on developed countries, including China, to contribute more to the climate change.

There are more than 300 NGOs in the conference called on developing countries as well as China to increase their financial support and commitments, otherwise they will leave the conference.

The sides, in a joint letter, agreed that not reaching an agreement in Baku is better than a bad one.
