ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - A new international art exhibition titled "Women and Removing Stones for Peace" opened in Bonn, Germany on Nov. 24, featuring 40 women artists from various countries, including seven prominent Kurdish artists.

The exhibition, which showcases a diverse range of artistic perspectives on peace and women's experiences, will run until March 8, 2025, coinciding symbolically with International Women's Day.

Kurdish artist Cihan Ibrahim told Kurdistan24 that the exhibition's works are organized into seven distinct sections, with the Kurdish contingent represented by herself, Zozan Mohammed, Begard Saatch, Sherihan Beklaro, Melek Mukhtar, Cihana Said, and Valentina Abdo.

"Through this exhibition and through colors, we Kurdish artists have attempted to shed light on Kurdish women and their profound struggles, while drawing hope, building human connections, and establishing artistic and friendship bridges with other cultures," Ibrahim said.

The opening ceremony drew a diverse international audience, including a notable presence from the local Kurdish community and German art enthusiasts.

The event was enhanced by Kurdish musical performances from duduk player Walid Hemoto and pianist Can Diko, adding a cultural dimension to the visual arts presentation.

Ibrahim, who contributed eight pieces to the exhibition, noted the strong turnout and positive reception from various nationalities, particularly highlighting the encouraging response from the German audience.

The exhibition represents a significant platform for Kurdish women artists to showcase their work alongside international contemporaries, while addressing themes of peace, cultural understanding, and women's experiences through visual arts.

In recent years, Kurdish artists have increasingly gained international recognition for their contributions to contemporary art, particularly in addressing social and political themes through their work. This exhibition in Bonn marks another important step in highlighting Kurdish women's artistic voices on the global stage.

The venue's decision to host the exhibition until International Women's Day 2025 underscores the ongoing commitment to promoting women's artistic expression and cross-cultural dialogue through the arts.
