ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Monday, the Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani arrived in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, responding to an official invitation from the Kingdom.
The visit marks another noteworthy step in the consolidation of the growing relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The visit concentrates on enhancing political, economic, and commercial ties between the two sides.
During his stay, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani is scheduled to meet with senior Bahraini officials, including the Crown Prince, various ministers, and key figures from the economic, commercial, and cultural sectors.
These discussions will focus on security cooperation, economic partnerships, and recent developments in the Middle East.
The visit builds upon a foundation of established diplomatic relations between the Kurdistan Region and Bahrain.
This relationship has developed notably since 2021 when Prime Minister Masrour Barzani first met with the King of Bahrain and attended the Manama Dialogue.
The following years have seen continued diplomatic visits, including multiple meetings with Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani.
The economic aspect of this relationship has shown sensible results, as demonstrated by Bahrain's importing of Kurdish pomegranates since 2022.
Recurring meetings between Kurdish and Bahraini officials at the World Economic Forum in Davos from 2022 through 2024 have further reinforced these ties, with a special focus on advancing financial, commercial, and economic sectors.
The visit, according to the KRG statement, is part of the ongoing diplomatic efforts by the Kurdistan Regional Government to strengthen KRG’s international relations, in particular with the Gulf nations.
