PM Barzani meets Bahraini crown prince to bolster bilateral ties

The leaders explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in various fields, including the potential establishment of a Bahraini consulate in the Kurdistan Region and the resumption of direct flights between Manama and Erbil.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa, on Tuesday to discuss strengthening ties between the Kurdistan Region and the Kingdom of Bahrain, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). 

The leaders explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in various fields, including the potential establishment of a Bahraini consulate in the Kurdistan Region and the resumption of direct flights between Manama and Erbil. 

Crown Prince Salman expressed enthusiasm for Prime Minister Barzani’s visit, stating Bahrain’s readiness to enhance bilateral relations. “The prime minister thanked Bahrain for its support and reiterated his desire to strengthen ties in areas of mutual interest, particularly infrastructure development, financial and banking reforms, and the digitalization of public services,” the KRG statement added. 

The discussions also touched on broader regional issues, including the development road project and the latest developments in Syria and the Middle East. 

The meeting underscored a shared commitment to fostering closer cooperation and addressing challenges in the region, signaling a significant step forward in the relationship between Bahrain and the Kurdistan Region.
