ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Rami Abdulrahman, founder of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, announced on Wednesday that hostilities in the eastern and western Euphrates River regions have ceased under a new agreement. Speaking to Kurdistan24, Abdulrahman revealed that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) will relocate entirely to the east of the Euphrates as part of the arrangement.

Additionally, Abdulrahman disclosed significant changes in the foreign military presence in Syria. He stated that Russian forces would completely withdraw from the country, with US forces assuming their positions. However, he emphasized that the continued presence of American troops depends on the enduring threat posed by ISIS. “If the threat of ISIS disappears from Syria, US forces will also withdraw from the country,” he noted.

Abdulrahman further highlighted the need for safety and stability in Syria’s post-conflict recovery, calling for the safe return of displaced residents to their homes, including the people of Afrin. He linked this process to the anticipated collapse of the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
