Border crossings between Syria and Lebanon reopen, facilitating movement amid crowds

According to Barzan, most of the border crossings with Lebanon have resumed operations to ease the travel of citizens. Over the past five days, the gates have experienced heavy congestion as people move between the two sides.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan24 reporter Dilan Barzan reported on Thursday that the Masnaa Border Crossing between Syria and Lebanon has reopened, with no restrictions on the movement of people between the two countries.

According to Barzan, most of the border crossings with Lebanon have resumed operations to ease the travel of citizens. Over the past five days, the gates have experienced heavy congestion as people move between the two sides.

One driver, speaking to Kurdistan 24, described the current situation in Damascus as “very normal and excellent,” adding, “There are no problems. People move freely between Lebanon and Syria. On the first day of the developments, there was no traffic, but on the second day, travel from Syria to Lebanon resumed. Women can travel alone, and I can drive anywhere I want.”

Another driver noted the improvements in freedom of movement, comparing the current situation to Europe: “The situation has returned to normal. There is nothing to stop people. While we face some challenges with gas and electricity, the security situation is very good, and movement between Syria and Lebanon is normal.”

A resident from Daraa shared a similar sentiment, stating, “The situation has returned to normal, and Syria is completely free.”

The reopening of these crossings marks a significant step in facilitating travel and trade between neighboring countries, despite ongoing logistical challenges.
