G7 highlights latest developments in Syria

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – While the Group of Seven plus (G7+) organised a high level summit in the UN General Assembly back in September 2024, the Group of Seven (G7) held a gathering on December 13th, 2024, about a number of important global issues beside the economic security, country border and national security.
Renewable energy and other critical global issues were discussed in each one of those meetings, however promoting peace and attempts to maintain the stability in the whole African continent discussed backed by all the members.
The Middle East was one of the spotlights in G7 meeting, and in particular, attention was given to the last week developments in Syria, which was another critical matter, through an online video meeting.

Regarding the Ukraine, the UK PM Sir Kier Starmer called on fellow G7 leaders to continue putting pressure on Putin by increasing military support to the Ukrainians and ramping up economic pressure, including further sanctions on Russia.

The Group of Seven (G7) is formed between Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and United States of America, The European
Union also participates in the group and is represented by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission.
Their ad-hoc gatherings are more like a platform to discuss variety of issues whether related to energy crisis, economic and financial cooperation, responses to major global issues, challenges, prominent consuming and revenues.
