ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – According to a report by Kurdistan24 correspondent Murad Akinci, a delegation from the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) began a meeting with Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), at Imrali Prison on Saturday.
The delegation consisted of Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, and Pervin Buldan, DEM Party parliamentarian, according to Kurdistan24 sources.
This meeting followed the Turkish Ministry of Justice's approval of the DEM Party's visitation request on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024.

The current meeting signifies a noticeable development in the ongoing dialogue process.
Earlier this month, on Dec. 3, 2024, a DEM Party delegation, accompanied by several politicians and activists from Northern Kurdistan, had formally requested the Turkish Ministry of Justice for a meeting with Ocalan.
This visit is the second significant meeting at Imrali Prison in recent months.
On Oct. 23, 2024, Omer Ocalan, a DEM Party parliamentarian and Abdullah Ocalan's nephew, had met with his uncle, ending a two-and-a-half-year period without family visitation rights.
The series of recent visits to Imrali Prison indicates a likely change in Turkey's approach to Kurdish political engagement, following years of limited access to the imprisoned PKK leader.
These developments are being carefully monitored by political observers for their possible effects on Turkish-Kurdish relations and regional stability.
