Duhok's local products festival draws strong turnout with 70 companies participating
The event intends to encourage local production and reinforce the region's economic infrastructure.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The third Local Products Festival and Fair is currently underway in Duhok, displaying products from nearly 70 companies and entrepreneurs while attracting considerable visitor numbers.
The festival, which opened on Dec. 21, 2024, under the supervision of Duhok Governor Ali Tatar and KRG Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Sarwar Kamal Hawari, will continue until Dec. 31 at the Duhok Cable Car Square.
The event intends to encourage local production and reinforce the region's economic infrastructure.
Siham Barwari, the festival coordinator, told Kurdistan24 that, "The festival has been organized to attract tourists from across the Kurdistan Region to Duhok during the New Year season."
"The participant companies are offering special promotions and discounts of up to 30 percent, providing significant benefits for low-income families," he added.
Karkar Khalil, a representative of one of the participating companies, underlined the global nature of such events: "Most countries organize similar festivals during New Year celebrations. This period is an excellent opportunity for citizens to visit and get to know our company's products."
The Local Products Festival marks an ongoing initiative to enhance domestic production and economic development in the Kurdistan Region.
Festival visitor Nora Harki expressed support for the event's expansion: "We would like to see such festivals organized every season. These events bridge the gap between Duhok's residents and local companies, introducing us to products we were previously unfamiliar with."
The festival's success demonstrates the growing significance of local manufacturing and commerce in the Kurdistan Region's economic development strategy, while also providing a platform for businesses to connect directly with consumers during the holiday season.
