ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Mehmet Uçum, a senior advisor to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stated that "all components of our country, including Turks, Kurds, and others, are original elements of Turkey."
In his statement, Uçum underlined that "Kurds are an inseparable part of Turkey and are founders of the Turkish people. This century is the century of Turks and Kurds."
However, Erdogan's advisor cautioned against what he called disruptive ideologies, stating that "the thesis of two nations serves the strategy of imperialists and is an attempt to partition Turkey."
These comments come following recent developments, including a meeting between a DEM Party delegation and Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), where Ocalan expressed readiness for a new phase of dialogue.

These statements echo the current discussions about Kurdish identity and rights within Turkey.
The timing is also significant, coming after recent meetings between Kurdish political representatives and Ocalan, and amid wider regional developments affecting Turkish-Kurdish relations.
The reference to "this century" and refutation of a "two-nation thesis" underscores the complex nature of Turkey's approach to its Kurdish population, balancing recognition of Kurdish identity while maintaining emphasis on national unity under the Turkish state.
