ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday in a post on X condemned the New Orleans terror attack.

The KRG [Kurdistan Regional Government] stands in solidarity with the victims and their families, and the American people in this difficult time,” the premier said.

He also stated “Our people have made enormous sacrifices in the war on terror. It remains a threat to the wider region and beyond.”

On Wednesday, a US citizen wearing an Islamic State flag and hell-bent on killing slammed a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year revelers in New Orleans, killing at least ten and injuring many more.

The FBI identified the attacker as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, an Army veteran from Texas. Officials said he might not have acted alone.

There was an ISIS flag found in the vehicle, and the FBI is investigating the subject's potential ties to terrorist organizations.
