Syrian delegation makes first visit to Saudi Arabia following Assad's removal
Prince Faisal bin Farhan reiterated Saudi Arabia's supportive position for all measures to attain security and stability for Syria while upholding its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Thursday, a top Syrian delegation conducted talks in Saudi Arabia, indicating the first official foreign visit by the new Syrian authorities since the ousting of former President Bashar al-Assad.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud met with his Syrian counterpart Asaad Hassan al-Shaybani at the ministry headquarters in Riyadh on Thursday.
As stated by the Saudi Press Agency, they reassessed current developments in Syria and related efforts during the reception.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan reiterated Saudi Arabia's supportive position for all measures to attain security and stability for Syria while upholding its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
The discussions also addressed several topics intended to preserve Syrian state institutions and capabilities and restore the country to its natural position in the Arab and Islamic worlds.
Furthermore, Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met in his Riyadh office on Thursday with al-Shaybani, Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra, and Head of Syrian General Intelligence Anas Khattab.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that the discussion focused on developments in Syria and ways to support the transitional political process which aims to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people while ensuring Syria's security, stability, and territorial unity.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Saudi Chief of General Staff Gen. Fayyad Al-Ruwaili also met with the Syrian Defense Minister on Thursday to discuss matters of mutual interest.
The Syrian delegation departed Saudi Arabia early Friday, with Deputy Foreign Minister Walid bin Abdul Karim Al-Khuraiji leading their farewell.
