ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A significant diplomatic meeting took place in Qamishli, Rojava (Western Kurdistan), on Sunday, between a US delegation and the leadership of the Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC – or ENKS), according to KNC spokesperson Faisal Youssef in a statement to Kurdistan24.

The discussions centered on three primary areas: the current situation in Syria, the importance of Kurdish unity in the present phase, and the prospect of unified Kurdish representation in the Damascus negotiations.

This meeting reflects ongoing American diplomatic efforts to facilitate cohesion among Kurdish political entities in Rojava, with the aim of ensuring effective representation in negotiations with Damascus and maintaining security in Kurdish regions.

This latest diplomatic engagement follows a previous US-sponsored meeting held in Qamishli on Dec. 31, 2024, which brought together KNC representatives and Mazloum Abdi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
