“On the remaining issues, all parties agreed that meetings between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi Federal Government teams should be held in the near future,” Shahab told a press conference.
Shahab highlighted that Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, along with top Iraqi officials, including Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, are unified in their approach towards the importance of frequent and regular meetings between federal and regional teams to swiftly resolve outstanding issues.
The conference followed President Barzani's official visit to Baghdad, where he engaged in comprehensive discussions with key Iraqi leaders, including the President, the Prime Minister, the Parliament Speaker, and leaders of the ruling political parties. These meetings focused on addressing the lingering financial and political challenges that have hindered the resumption of oil exports and disrupted salary distributions to KRG employees.
This concerted effort marks a pivotal moment in reinforcing the economic framework and partnerships between Erbil and Baghdad, with the objective of ensuring economic stability and prosperity for the region through the resumption of oil exports.
