ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Washington, D.C.-based news website al-Monitor announced on Wednesday that Mazloum Abdi, the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), is set to meet President Masoud Barzani.
“Three well-placed sources" confirmed the visit to al-Monitor and they declined to reveal when the meeting would take place, with one noting it would be “very soon.”
According to al-Monitor, the meeting will represent a significant breakthrough in the Joe Biden administration's efforts to ease tensions between the Kurdistan Region and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (Rojava).
On Monday Hamid Darbandi, the Kurdistan Region's Special Representative for Syrian Kurdish Affairs and President Masoud Barzani's envoy, met with SDF commander Abdi.
