PM Barzani Discusses Enhanced Cooperation with Jordan's King Abdullah

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on Sunday to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation.

During an official visit to Jordan's capital, Amman, Prime Minister Barzani engaged in talks aimed at expanding collaboration in various sectors between Jordan and the Kurdistan Region. "We explored avenues to deepen our cooperation and promote enduring peace and stability in the region," PM Barzani shared on his social media platforms.

The discussions also highlighted the robust fraternal ties between Jordan, the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq. "His Majesty emphasized Jordan’s commitment to strengthening these relations across all fields," PM Barzani noted.

Additionally, King Abdullah conveyed his regards and appreciation to President Masoud Barzani. PM Barzani expressed his admiration for Jordan's efforts under King Abdullah's leadership to foster peace and stability in the Middle East.

The talks also covered the Syrian crisis, with both leaders agreeing on the critical importance of Syria’s security and stability for the region. "We reiterated the necessity of maintaining the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and securing a comprehensive calm throughout the region," PM Barzani concluded.

The relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Jordan has traditionally been characterized by mutual respect and strategic cooperation. Both regions have collaborated on economic, educational, and security initiatives, reflecting a commitment to regional stability and mutual growth. Jordan has served as a significant trade partner and has provided support in various capacities to assist the Kurdistan Region in its development efforts. These meetings continue to underline the importance of strong bilateral relationships as both countries navigate complex regional dynamics and pursue sustainable development and peace.
