ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday in a post on X expressed condolences over the Grand Kartal Hotel fire in Bolu province of Turkey.

“I’m saddened by the tragic fire in Bolu, Türkiye. I offer my condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and government of Türkiye during this difficult time,” the Prime Minister said.

A fire broke out early Tuesday in a 12-story hotel at a popular ski resort in northwestern Turkey, claiming the lives of at least 66 people—two of whom jumped from the building to escape the flames, according to officials.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that at least 51 others were injured in the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Kartalkaya, located in the Koroglu mountains of Bolu province, approximately 300 kilometers (185 miles) east of Istanbul. The blaze erupted just as a two-week winter school break began when hotels in the region are typically full.
