ERBIL (Kurdistn24) – The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Electricity announced on Saturday that electricity production was considerably impacted due to a reduction in LPG gas supply at the Khor Mor gas station, operated by Dana Gas Company.
The Ministry of Electricity notified subscribers that the gas supply from the Khor Mor station has been cut by 100 MMSCF (million standard cubic feet) due to technical issues.
This reduction caused a sharp decline in electricity generation, with output decreasing by 700 megawatts.
Efforts to Address the Crisis
The Ministry specified that it was working in coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources and other relevant parties to address the issue.
Efforts were underway to resolve the LPG transmission problem and restore electricity production to normal levels as quickly as possible.
The disruption in electricity production impacted consumers across the Kurdistan Region, with reduced availability of electricity until the gas supply issue was resolved.
Following the disruption in electricity production, the KRG Ministry of Electricity announced that the power supply situation for citizens was "normalized", with electricity production capacity returning to 3,700 megawatts.
This update indicated the successful resolution of the earlier technical issues that had affected power generation.
The return to full production capacity ensures stable electricity distribution to residents across the region.
Collaborative Action
Dana Gas Company, the operator of the Khor Mor gas station, was reportedly working closely with the KRG to identify and tackle the root cause of the disruption.
The KRG underlined the significance of quick resolution to minimize the impact on residents and industries.
