ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A Turkish drone strike on Sakiro village in the eastern countryside of the city of Ain Issa in the Tal Abyad district of northern Syria (Rojava), resulted in the killing a teen, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The attack comes amid a surge in Turkish airstrikes across northern and northeastern Syria, fueling growing fears of escalating violence that increasingly targets civilians.

According to SOHR, since the start of 2025, Turkish drones have launched at least 35 airstrikes on areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). These strikes have claimed the lives of six individuals, including one Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighter and five civilians—among them a women’s rights activist and the slain child. Another 10 people were wounded, including seven civilians and three members of the SDF and its affiliated forces.

Since Dec. 12, 2024, Turkish forces have intensified airstrikes in Rojava, killing 526 people, including 61 civilians, according to SOHR.

The latest attack on Sarrin, south of Kobani, highlights the growing toll on civilians.
