ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Monday discussed regional developments and strengthening bilateral relations with Majid Takht Ravanchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs.

They exchanged views on the latest political and economic developments in Iraq and the broader region, and they emphasized the importance of maintaining and enhancing the relationship between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The discussions particularly focused on economic cooperation and trade exchange, highlighting mutual interests and shared benefits.

Both parties underscored their commitment to fostering stronger economic partnerships, with an emphasis on expanding trade and investment opportunities. They acknowledged the need for continued dialogue and collaboration to ensure stability and prosperity in the region.

"Today, I spoke with DFM Takht Ravanchi about the developments in the region. We underlined the importance of strong bilateral relations, economic reform, and trade cooperation to drive mutual prosperity," PM Barzani wrote on X.

The Kurdistan Region and Iran share deep historical, economic, and political ties. Iran has been a key trading partner for the Kurdistan Region, with cross-border trade playing a vital role in the region’s economy. Over the years, both sides have worked to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and security.

Recent geopolitical shifts in Iraq and the broader Middle East have made bilateral engagements between the KRG and Iran increasingly significant. As regional dynamics evolve, maintaining stable and constructive relations remains crucial for both sides to address common challenges and explore new economic opportunities.
