The AANES Rejects Syrian National Dialogue Conference

The Administration pointed out that preparatory meetings held across various provinces were not inclusive, instead reflecting the same political practices that Syrians have struggled to overturn.

Erbil (Kurdistan24) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) declared on Tuesday that the Syrian National Dialogue Conference does not represent the Syrian people, expressing reservations about both its structure and content and affirming that it will not recognize or implement its outcomes.

AANES Criticizes Conference Structure and Representation

In an official statement, AANES emphasized that, since the fall of Assad’s regime in Syria, Syrians from all backgrounds have aspired to build a united country that embraces all citizens without exclusion or marginalization.

However, AANES criticized the current approach taken by the Syrian interim government, arguing that the steps taken toward dialogue and partnership have been disappointing and misaligned with the aspirations of Syrians, and the process has been dominated by exclusionary policies that contradict the principles of a genuine national dialogue.

Exclusion and Marginalization Undermine the Process

The statement highlighted that the preparatory committee lacks legitimate representation of Syria’s diverse communities and that statements made by its members failed to promote dialogue or bring different perspectives closer.

Additionally, it pointed out that preparatory meetings held across various provinces were not inclusive, instead reflecting the same political practices that Syrians have struggled to overturn.

AANES Stands Firm Against Exclusionary Policies

Reaffirming its commitment to an inclusive and democratic Syria, AANES stressed that the Syrian people are capable of healing their wounds and rebuilding their country through genuine dialogue. However, it firmly rejected the legitimacy of the ongoing conference, stating that it does not represent the Syrian people and that AANES, as a vital part of Syria, has been deliberately excluded from the process.

Call for a Genuine National Dialogue

AANES reaffirmed its commitment to the goals of the Syrian revolution, which, since its inception, has aimed to liberate Syrian society from oppression, aggression, and exclusionary policies.

The administration concluded its statement by calling on the Syrian people to continue their struggle for democracy, pledging to uphold the sacrifices made for freedom and justice and to work toward fulfilling the aspirations of the Syrian people.
