ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Saudi Arabia has welcomed the recent call by Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), urging the group to disarm and dissolve itself.

Riyadh Expresses Support for Regional Stability

In a statement released on Friday, February 28, 2025, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s support for the initiative, which was announced a day earlier in Istanbul.

The Saudi government reaffirmed its solidarity with Turkey, expressing hope that Ocalan’s call would pave the way for meaningful steps toward peace, security, and economic prosperity.

Ocalan’s statement, delivered through a delegation that met with him in Imrali Prison, has been described as a historic turning point in the decades-long conflict. He emphasized that the PKK was founded under different political circumstances and that the current landscape requires a peaceful and democratic resolution.
