ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a significant announcement at the White House, U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth revealed that the Air Force is advancing with the production of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) fighter jet platform. This cutting-edge development marks a historic leap in aerial warfare capabilities, aiming to replace the aging fleet of F-22 Raptors and solidify U.S. air superiority for decades to come.

The NGAD initiative is not just a single aircraft but an interconnected network of advanced military technologies. The platform will integrate a stealth fighter jet, drone support systems, and other classified capabilities designed to dominate the battlefield.

Trump underscored the significance of this technological advancement, stating, “I’m thrilled to announce that, at my direction, the United States Air Force is moving forward with the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet. Nothing in the world comes even close to it.” He further revealed that the aircraft component will be designated as the F-47.

Positioned as the most advanced combat aircraft ever developed, the F-47 will surpass existing fifth-generation fighters in range, stealth, sustainability, and operational efficiency. Trump emphasized that the NGAD program represents a monumental investment in the defense sector, ensuring the United States remains at the forefront of aerospace technology.

Hegseth echoed these sentiments, calling it a landmark moment for the nation’s warfighters. “Because of this sixth-generation fighter, America will have generations of air dominance,” he said. He also highlighted the strategic significance of the F-47, sending a clear signal to both allies and adversaries. “This sends a very direct, clear message to our allies that we’re not going anywhere and to our enemies that we can, and we will, be able to project power around the globe, unimpeded, for generations to come.”

The NGAD program is expected to revolutionize air combat through human-machine teaming, leveraging artificial intelligence and autonomous capabilities to enhance lethality and operational flexibility. Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. David W. Allvin described the program as a pivotal step in modern aerial warfare. “NGAD is allowing us to look into the future and unlock the magic that is human-machine teaming,” Allvin noted. He also emphasized that the program’s structure provides the government with greater control, enabling rapid technological updates to maintain battlefield superiority.

According to Allvin, the F-47 will not only be more advanced but also more cost-effective than the F-22. It will feature a longer operational range, superior stealth capabilities, and enhanced sustainability. However, while no specific cost figures or production timelines were disclosed during the announcement, Trump assured that a fleet of F-47s would be “built and in the air” within his administration.

The unveiling of the NGAD fighter jet underscores the U.S. government’s commitment to maintaining unmatched aerial supremacy. As geopolitical tensions continue to evolve, this next-generation platform will play a critical role in safeguarding American interests and reinforcing the country’s global military influence.
