PM Barzani, Jordanian Parliament Speaker Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Stability

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Saturday welcomed Ahmed Safadi, Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, to Erbil, where they discussed strengthening bilateral relations and addressing key regional issues.
Reinforcing Historic Relations
In a statement, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) noted that Speaker Safadi expressed his pleasure in visiting the Kurdistan Region and praised the Region’s remarkable progress and stability.
He emphasized the deep-rooted, historic friendship between Jordan and the Kurdistan Region and reaffirmed Jordan’s readiness to further enhance bilateral ties across multiple fields.
Prime Minister Barzani, for his part, stressed the importance of fostering and expanding the enduring friendship between the Kurdistan Region and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
He reiterated the KRG’s profound appreciation for Jordan’s consistent support, particularly highlighting the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
Focus on Economic Reforms and Digitalization
The meeting also addressed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ongoing reforms, particularly in the fields of energy, finance, and the digitalization of public services.
Both sides recognized the significance of these reforms in fostering good governance and sustainable economic growth.
Prime Minister Barzani and Speaker Safadi also exchanged views on the overall security situation in the region. They underscored the necessity of safeguarding regional stability and maintaining peace, amid the evolving challenges facing the Middle East.
