Yemen’s Houthis Fire "Hypersonic Missile" Toward Israel as U.S. Airstrikes Continue
Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the group targeted Israel’s Nevatim Air Base with what he described as a hypersonic missile.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Yemen's Houthi rebels launched a missile toward Israel early Sunday, but the Israeli military successfully intercepted the projectile before it crossed into Israeli territory, according to the Associated Press (AP).
Sirens were heard in parts of Israel near the Dead Sea following the launch. In a statement, the Israeli military confirmed the interception, assuring that no damage or casualties occurred.
Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the group targeted Israel’s Nevatim Air Base with what he described as a hypersonic missile. "The Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have stepped up their operations against Israel as part of their broader campaign within Iran’s so-called “Axis of Resistance,” said AP.
Meanwhile, American airstrikes against Houthi positions continued overnight into Sunday. The strikes are part of a broader U.S. military campaign, which began on March 15, aimed at curbing Houthi attacks on shipping lanes in the Red Sea and missile launches toward Israel.
Assessing the full impact of the U.S. airstrikes has proven challenging. The U.S. military has provided limited information about the targets and casualties, while the Houthis have restricted independent access to affected sites. Many of the strikes reportedly targeted military and security facilities controlled by the group.
According to AP, the deadliest known U.S. strike in the ongoing campaign occurred on April 18, when a bombing at the Ras Isa fuel port killed at least 74 people and wounded 171 others.
On Saturday, CENTCOM released footage showing the U.S. aircraft carriers Harry S. Truman and Carl Vinson carrying out strikes against the Houthis.
"24/7 operations continue against Iran-backed Houthis from CENTCOM forces aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70)," CENTCOM wrote on X.
