ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Head of Foreign Relations Department (DFR), Minister Safeen Dizayee, described the recent high-level visit to Washington led by the KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani as “very successful,” expressing gratitude to U.S. partners for their hospitality and constructive engagement.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, Dizayee thanked American officials and institutions for hosting the KRG delegation, highlighting the productive nature of the talks held in the U.S. capital.

“A very successful visit to Washington concluded under the leadership of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani,” Dizayee wrote. “We are grateful to our American friends and partners for their warm welcome and constructive dialogue.”

He also extended appreciation to the KRG Representation in the United States, the KRG Protocol team, and media professionals for their efforts in ensuring the success of the visit.

The KRG delegation, headed by Prime Minister Barzani, held a series of key meetings with senior U.S. officials, members of Congress, and business leaders to strengthen bilateral ties. Central to the discussions were security cooperation, economic partnerships, and investment opportunities in the Kurdistan Region—particularly in the energy sector.

During the visit, major agreements were signed between the KRG and prominent American energy companies, signaling a renewed push to expand U.S.-Kurdistan economic collaboration. These deals were lauded by Prime Minister Barzani as a “strategic step forward” in achieving energy security and economic growth for the Kurdistan Region.

The trip, which also included meetings with U.S. lawmakers and policy experts, underscored the Kurdistan Region’s role as a key ally in a turbulent region. U.S. officials reaffirmed their continued commitment to supporting the Region’s stability, democratic institutions, and economic development.

The visit comes at a time of shifting dynamics in the Middle East, making closer Erbil-Washington cooperation increasingly significant.

The successful conclusion of the Washington visit reflects not only the KRG’s diplomatic outreach but also Washington’s ongoing recognition of the Kurdistan Region’s strategic importance in Iraq and the broader region.
