ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The Israeli military intercepted a missile launched from Yemen on Saturday, triggering sirens in several areas across the country, according to a statement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, confirmed the incident on the social media platform X.

“Urgent: A missile launched from Yemen was intercepted a short while ago, causing sirens to be activated in some areas in Israel,” Adraee posted.

The statement did not specify the exact location of the interception or whether the missile posed a direct threat to Israeli territory. No casualties or damage were reported as of the time of publication.

This comes amid rising tensions in the region, with Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen increasingly targeting strategic locations, including Israeli-linked assets, in response to the ongoing Gaza conflict. Israel has repeatedly warned of the growing missile and drone threat emanating from the Yemeni front.

Israeli defense systems, including the Arrow and David’s Sling missile defense platforms, have been on heightened alert in recent weeks due to the escalating regional security environment.
