ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iran has announced the indefinite suspension of all domestic and international flights following Israeli airstrikes on key military and strategic locations across the country, the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported Friday.

The Iranian Civil Aviation Organization has urged citizens to refrain from visiting airports and instead follow updates through official media channels, citing ongoing security concerns and uncertainty regarding future flight schedules.

The announcement came after Israel carried out a wave of strikes on Friday morning, targeting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) headquarters in Tehran and several other sites. The bombings resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian figures, including:

Hossein Salami, Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC

Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces

Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, President of Islamic Azad University

Fereydoon Abbasi, a prominent nuclear physicist and former head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization

The strikes mark a significant escalation in long-standing tensions between Israel and Iran, triggering heightened alert levels across the region. Tehran has not yet issued an official response to the attack, but government and military sources have warned of possible retaliatory action.
