ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has sharply condemned the Israeli attack on Iranian soil that claimed the lives of numerous civilians, declaring that Tehran will not remain silent and pledging that the Islamic Republic’s response will force Israel to regret its “foolish act,” according to a statement carried by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

In his message, Pezeshkian described the overnight attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities as a “savage act that claimed the lives of women, children, innocent civilians, military commanders, and nuclear scientists.” He said the Israeli strikes constituted a flagrant violation of international norms and reaffirmed what Iran has long asserted: “aggression and crime are ingrained in the very nature of the Zionist regime.”

Pezeshkian warned that Iran's “legitimate and powerful” response would be forthcoming, stating, “This crime will not go unanswered, and the enemy will soon regret its actions.”

"Criminal Nature of the Zionist Regime"

The president blamed Israel for deliberately targeting non-combatants and described the attacks as proof of “the criminal nature of the illegitimate Zionist regime, which has built its existence on occupation, aggression, and the killing of children.”

Citing the words of the Islamic Republic’s founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Pezeshkian said, “Whenever a flag falls from the powerful hand of a commander, another commander will pick it up and enter the battlefield,” invoking a national spirit of resilience and sacrifice in the face of aggression.

Call for Unity and Defiance

Pezeshkian called on the Iranian people to unify in the wake of the attacks. “Today, more than ever, the Iranian nation needs unity, trust, empathy, and solidarity,” he said, expressing confidence that Iran’s response will be “strong, wise, and firm,” guided by both public will and divine support.

While emphasizing that Iran has always pursued peace and stability in the region and beyond, he asserted that the Islamic Republic would act decisively when its sovereignty is challenged.

“This crime will not weaken us,” Pezeshkian said, “but rather will strengthen our resolve.”
