ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw reassured the public on Saturday that commercial activity in the Kurdistan Region remains normal, despite heightened tensions in the region due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.

Speaking at a press conference, Khoshnaw emphasized there is no cause for concern regarding food supply in the region. “Borders remain open, trade is continuing, and our warehouses and commercial storage facilities are stocked with sufficient quantities of food that will last for an extended period. There is currently no issue,” he stated.

He also addressed concerns about currency fluctuations, noting that while the recent rise in the U.S. dollar exchange rate may impact the market, the continued flow of goods and food products into the region ensures that the situation remains under control. “There is no reason for panic,” he affirmed.

On the geopolitical front, Khoshnaw clarified that the Kurdistan Region is not involved in the Iran-Israel conflict and does not face any direct threat.

Regarding air travel disruptions, the governor explained that flight suspensions were not limited to Kurdistan but extended to Iraq and several neighboring countries. “Some countries have already begun to resume flights gradually,” he said, adding that the Kurdistan Regional Government is ready to assist any citizens stranded abroad.

The statement comes amid growing regional anxiety following military escalations between Iran and Israel, with several countries in the Middle East temporarily closing airspace as a precaution.
