Trump Says Putin Called to Discuss Iran, Urges End to Israel-Iran War
Trump concluded with both leaders expressing the view that “this war in Israel-Iran should end.” Trump noted that he took the opportunity to urge Putin to also bring an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine, saying, “I explained, his war should also end."

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday said he received a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin in which the two leaders discussed Iran and the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Islamic Republic, expressing mutual concern and a shared desire to see the war come to an end.
In a post published on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Putin "very nicely" wished him a happy birthday before shifting the conversation to Iran — a country Trump noted the Russian leader "knows very well." The president stated that the two spoke at length about the Islamic Republic, while only briefly touching on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which Trump said would be addressed in more detail "next week."
“He is doing the planned prisoner swaps — large numbers of prisoners are being exchanged, immediately, from both sides,” Trump wrote.
Trump added that the call lasted approximately one hour and concluded with both leaders expressing the view that “this war in Israel-Iran should end.” Trump noted that he took the opportunity to urge Putin to also bring an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine, saying, “I explained, his war should also end.”
Trump’s remarks come amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran, following a series of high-profile strikes and counterattacks targeting military infrastructure in both countries. According to The Times of Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently called on the Iranian people to rise against their regime, saying Israel’s Operation Rising Lion aims to eliminate Tehran’s missile and nuclear capabilities. Meanwhile, diplomatic activity involving global powers has intensified, with Washington, Moscow, and European capitals increasingly concerned about the potential for a wider regional war.
