Israel Launches Major Strikes on Tehran as Conflict with Iran Escalates

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Israeli military announced early Wednesday that it had launched a series of airstrikes targeting locations in and around Tehran, as part of a widening military campaign against Iran.

According to Iranian media reports, massive explosions rocked the eastern parts of the Iranian capital, with visible fireballs and plumes of smoke rising from the targeted sites. Among the key targets was the Khojir missile production facility near Tehran— the same site Israel struck last October.

Multiple Explosions Across Tehran and Zanjan

Iranian outlets reported that three powerful blasts were also heard in the city of Abhar, located in Zanjan province. Another Israeli strike reportedly targeted the Imam Hossein University in eastern Tehran, a facility closely linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Prior to the fresh Israeli assault, local news sites had already cited reports of explosions in both Tehran and Karaj, west of the capital, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Visual Evidence and Local Panic

Footage circulating on social media showed fires blazing in Tel Aviv, reportedly sparked by the fall of an Israeli interceptor missile used to repel Iranian rocket attacks. Israel’s Channel 12 reported that residents in central Israel heard multiple explosions during the exchange.

According to Israeli military estimates, Iran launched approximately 25 missiles in two waves since dawn Wednesday, triggering further Israeli retaliatory action.

U.S.-Israel Consultations and Trump’s Ultimatum

Amid the intensifying conflict, Axios reported that U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone call on Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Citing unnamed Israeli officials, Axios noted that both Netanyahu and Israeli defense leaders believe President Trump is likely to enter the war in the coming days to target Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities.

Trump convened his national security team on Tuesday, as tensions with Iran surged. The White House confirmed that the high-level meeting—held in the secure Situation Room—lasted approximately ninety minutes, though no immediate details about the decisions taken were disclosed.

Speaking later on Tuesday, Trump called on Iran to offer “unconditional surrender,” adding that his patience was “running thin” and asserting that he knows the location of Iran’s Supreme Leader.

As the confrontation enters a dangerous phase, the region braces for further escalations, with both sides showing no signs of de-escalation.
