ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — More than 400 people have been killed and over 3,000 wounded in Iran since Israeli strikes began last week, according to an updated casualty toll released by Iran’s health ministry on Saturday — AFP reported.

Health ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour stated on social media platform X that “as of this morning [Saturday], Israeli attacks have claimed the lives of over 400 defenseless Iranians and left 3,056 others wounded by missiles and drones.” The post marks the most comprehensive official estimate of the human toll inside Iran since the outbreak of hostilities on June 13.

The death toll comes amid an intense Israeli air campaign targeting Iranian military, nuclear, and missile infrastructure, which started on June 13. Israeli officials have said the strikes are aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear program and degrading its capacity to support proxy groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas.

The Israeli military has reported repeated strikes on key sites, including nuclear research facilities in Isfahan and centrifuge workshops near Tehran, in what it describes as a sustained operation to “eliminate existential threats.”

Iranian officials have condemned the attacks as “aggression” and “war crimes,” and have vowed retaliation. Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and has denied Israeli claims of an imminent weapons breakout.

According to AFP, the conflict has also caused significant infrastructure damage in multiple Iranian cities, including Qom, Natanz, and Isfahan, with emergency services reportedly overwhelmed by the scale of destruction and casualties.

The international community has expressed growing concern over the escalation. The United Nations and several European governments have called for immediate de-escalation and the resumption of diplomatic efforts to prevent a broader regional war.

Meanwhile, U.S. officials have not committed to direct military involvement, but President Donald Trump has said all options remain on the table. Israel, for its part, has vowed to continue its campaign “for as long as it takes.”

The war, now entering its second week, has already become the most intense direct confrontation between Israel and Iran in history.
