ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a direct and forceful warning to the United States on Monday, accusing it of violating Iranian sovereignty and promising a retaliatory strike of unforeseen severity, according to a statement published by Tasnim News Agency, a semi-official outlet affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In a statement attributed to the headquarters’ spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaqari, the Iranian Armed Forces' joint command accused the U.S. of engaging in acts of war through its recent airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. "The criminal United States, in continuation of its all-out support for the aggressions of the Zionist regime, has blatantly violated the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran and directly entered into war with Iran by launching an attack on Iran’s sacred soil," Zolfaqari stated, as quoted by Tasnim.
Zolfaqari warned that the Islamic Republic’s fighters would soon retaliate: "We assure the United States that the hands of the clock will not turn in your favor, and the fighters of the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond with a fierce and unforeseen blow."
Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters is the principal body responsible for coordinating and planning joint military operations within the Iranian Armed Forces and operates under the direct command of the General Staff. Its pronouncements are often interpreted as serious indicators of Tehran’s military posture.
The threat follows a major escalation in hostilities in the region. On Sunday, June 22, 2025, U.S. warplanes carried out coordinated airstrikes on three of Iran’s key nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The United States justified the strikes as necessary measures against Iran’s nuclear ambitions amid rising tensions with both Israel and Tehran.
The Iran-Israel war, which began on Friday, June 13, 2025, has continued into its second week. The conflict was initiated by Israel’s launch of a wide-ranging air campaign named "Operation Rising Lion," involving more than 200 fighter jets targeting military bases and nuclear facilities across Iran. The offensive resulted in the deaths of senior Iranian nuclear scientists and IRGC commanders, according to official Iranian sources.
Iran responded by launching waves of ballistic missiles and drones against Israeli cities and infrastructure under "Operation True Promise III." Daily exchanges of airstrikes between the two nations have since continued.
According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), as of Sunday, June 22, 2025, at least 865 individuals have been killed in Iran since the onset of hostilities, with over 3,396 wounded. The report emphasizes that a significant portion of the casualties are civilians.
The Khatam al-Anbiya statement marks a significant development in the war rhetoric from Tehran, explicitly accusing the United States of direct military aggression and invoking the possibility of severe retaliation. As the conflict widens, the risk of broader regional involvement and prolonged confrontation continues to mount.
