Kurdistan PM Extends New Hijri Year Greetings, Hopes for Peace and Justice

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — On the occasion of the arrival of the new Hijri year 1447, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani extended warm congratulations to Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world.

In a message shared to mark the Islamic New Year, Prime Minister Barzani expressed his heartfelt wishes for a year filled with peace and reconciliation.

“I warmly extend my congratulations to Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq, and across the world on the occasion of the new Hijri year 1447,” the statement read.

He further added, “We pray to the Almighty, the Most Gracious and Merciful, that the new Hijri year will be one of peace, tranquility, and the end of war, destruction, injustice, and oppression.”

Barzani concluded his message by hoping that the new Islamic year would be a blessed one, filled with joy and prosperity for all Muslims.

The Hijri New Year, also known as the Islamic New Year, marks the beginning of the lunar Islamic calendar and commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s migration (Hijra) from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE.
