ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Tech magnate Elon Musk announced on Saturday the creation of a new political party in the United States, vowing to challenge what he described as a corrupt and monopolized "one-party system," according to a report by AFP.

Posting on his social media platform X, Musk wrote, “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

The move marks a dramatic escalation in Musk’s political involvement and follows a public and bitter rift with U.S. President Donald Trump, with whom he had once aligned closely. Musk had reportedly played a key role in advising the Trump administration on cost-cutting reforms, including efforts to slash federal spending and reduce the size of the government workforce.

While details about the new party’s structure, leadership, or policy platform remain sparse, the announcement has already sparked widespread attention across political and media circles. Musk's statement positions the America Party as an anti-establishment force, aiming to disrupt what he sees as bipartisan complacency in Washington, particularly regarding fiscal mismanagement and political corruption.

Musk—CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and other major ventures—has become an increasingly influential figure in political discourse, often leveraging his vast online following to comment on social, economic, and governmental affairs. His foray into party politics is seen by some analysts as a sign of growing dissatisfaction among influential business leaders with the traditional two-party system in the U.S.

The formation of the America Party adds to a turbulent American political landscape ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, as questions about third-party viability, voter polarization, and institutional trust continue to dominate national conversation.
